Join us for our second PTA General Meeting of the year in the Media Center or via zoom. We will discuss plans for the NMS 100th Anniversary, our annual raffle, Pow Wow, AND MORE!!!

The Anxious Generation with Jennifer Bencivengo - Friday, January 31st, 8:45AM

We welcome OGS Principal Jennifer Bencivengo to NMS to discuss The Anxious Generation, Jonathan Haidt's bestselling book. Haidt investigates the nature of childhood, including why children need play and independent exploration to mature into competent, thriving adults.

Dr. Bencivengo will open a conversation about what parents, teachers, and schools can do to address the social, emotional, and mental health needs of our children through better monitoring and limitation of digital tools and access. You will be provided with strategies to foster conversation at home around these topics, resources for further research, and low-tech/no-tech alternatives to enhance the home learning environment.

NMS 100th Year Anniversary Yearbook Photos

We are looking for current NMS students who have an alumni parent, grandparent, great-grandparent, aunt, or uncle to take a photo for the yearbook. *If there is a generational alumni in the photo and a current NMS student, sibling alumni can be included.* Please see DIRECTIONS to submit a photo. Please note that any photos taken or submitted will be published for distribution.

We are also looking for historical NMS photos of the school grounds, past events or traditions, along with copies of past yearbooks we might borrow. Please send photos and any questions to Tami Summerton.

Volunteer with the NMS PTA THis Year! We need YOU!!

The NMS PTA is looking to fill several volunteer roles for this year! This is a great way to meet people and support our school and community. Please get in touch with VPs of Administration Kate Fix or Tiana Dedvukaj if you are interested in finding out about open positions.

Looking for an easy way to get involved? The North Mianus School Media Center is looking for volunteers to help restack books for about 20-30 minutes. Feel free to sign up for one or more sessions.
