Academic Excellence
Every school in the district has a PTAC Academic Excellence (“AE”) representative. The Parent Teacher Association Council (“PTAC”) is a volunteer organization comprised of all 15 school PTAs in the Greenwich Public School system. The purpose of PTAC is to promote a healthy working relationship and an open line of communication between home and school. The PTAC’s Academic Excellence Committee, advocates for the needs of all students as it relates to: the GPS academic curriculum and instruction; the District’s mission of educating all students to the highest levels of academic excellence and in a consistent manner across all schools; and the communication and transparency between all stakeholders in the GPS District, including administrators, staff, teachers and parents. AE works to facilitate parent engagement in their child’s learning by advocating for meaningful and effective communication from District and school to home, excellence and equity in teaching and learning across our District, and the sharing of information regarding changes and updates to curriculum and teaching practices from the District to parents as well as feedback, questions and concerns from parents to the District.
Each year, the AE Committee hosts workshops open to the public relating to various aspects of the GPS curriculum with GPS presenters. The dates for 2024-25 are forthcoming.
