Dear 5th Grade Families,

Welcome to Eastern Middle School! We are starting the transition process for our incoming 6th grade students for the 2025-2026 school year. We are offering an opportunity for incoming parents to learn about the transition to middle school and to give you an overall picture of the school, its educational programs, and the co-curricular activities that we will offer you and your children next year.

We look forward to explaining this program to our incoming 6th grade parent meeting on January 10, 2025 from 9:00-10:00 am at the Eastern Middle School’s Auditorium.

Topics that will be presented during the meeting:
● Introductions to key staff members
● Timeline of upcoming transition sharings/meetings
● Overview of the 6th Grade Transition Plan
● A day in the life of Middle Schooler
● School Counselor's Role
● Social-emotional Learning Facilitator Role
● Specifics of how are things different from elementary to middle school

While this meeting will focus on explaining Eastern’s transition process and the skills we will help students’ develop in 6th grade, the GPS District Coordinators will host a parent meeting to review and present academic offerings and the overall placement process on January 22. The district academic team will be in touch with more details.

At Eastern, we strive to be more than just a link between elementary and high school. We value our students as learners and want to equip them with the skills they need to not only succeed academically, but more importantly socially and emotionally so they are well rounded individuals.
