Principal's Notes
Dear Parents, The Pow Wow is now a memory and that always signals the end of the school year is on the horizon. Every year I am awestruck by the sheer volume of teacher and parent volunteers who support every aspect of the event. Whether it is ticket sales, the food tent, the games or the bake sale, there is no shortage of volunteers in our school community. Once again let me thank all of the many people who helped make the annual Pow Wow a tremendous success and most of all, a memory the children will carry with them forever. This week the Deputy Superintendent visited the school. Dr. Carabillo visits several times each year and I am always eager to have her visit rooms and see the great work the teachers are doing. She enjoys talking with our students and hearing them talk about their work. Of course the most special event this week was our band and orchestra concert. Congratulations to Meaghan Debona, Jackie Eckhardt and Holly Brown and to all our students for all their hard work and effort and to all of you for ensuring the children practice and get to school early for their rehearsals. I know that seating was limited but please know we are taking all of your suggestions under advisement and will be discussing how we might improve our concert experience next year. We are beginning the process of placing students for next year and this means we need to ensure we have adequate staffing. Your help is needed in advising us as soon as possible if you will not be returning next year. This helps us ensure we have accurate numbers in planning for teaching staff. Thank you for your help and support. Finally, most of the district schools will be taking part in collecting pennies as our way of showing support for the Byram community pool. North Mianus will have a brick with our name on it at the pool site. The penny drive will begin next week with a jar outside the office. We would welcome penny donations to help us support this amazing project. You will be getting a flyer with more details shortly. Again, thank you for your help with this community project. Have a great week, Angela Schmidt
