Spring Afters

Don’t forget to sign up for Spring Afters! We are introducing new programs - Lacrosse for girls, Soccer and Board Game Bonanza. And don’t forget about our classic programs - Dodegeball, painting, cooking, legos and more! 

Registration began March 19th and will close on April 4th at 5:00 PM.
Spring Session runs from April 16th - June 6

PTA Nominating Committee Update

The Nominating Committee is pleased to announce the proposed PTA Executive Board Slate for the upcoming 2018- 2020 term. The election will be held during the May General PTA meeting. During the April and May meetings, other candidates may be nominated and seconded from the floor until the election is called.

Next EDS/Special Ed - Parent Meeting
 
The next EDS/Special Ed Parent meeting will be held on Thursday, March 29th from 9:30am-11:00am at the town Hall in the Mazza meeting room.
The topic of discussion will be "Progress Monitoring at Your Triennial or Annual Review", presented by Kristin Berry and Laurie Markus of Advocacy for Kids. Hosted by the PTAC - EDS Committee.  All parents are welcome!

Katie Greer Workshop-Keeping Kids Safe In a Technology Driven World Internet Safety: What's New and Trending

Final Pow Wow Planning Meeting - Apr. 5th, 8:45am

The Pow Wow is May 4th and 5th and we need your help with the final details! Please join us in the Cafeteria on April 5th at 8:45am for our final planning meeting.

There are many ways to participate! There is something for everyone to do and we need everyone to do something. Please contact Sue Lanzarone or Meredith Vartuli with any questions.

Homework Club Registration Ongoing
 
HWC is running Mondays and Tuesdays through to June 5th. Please don’t miss out on the opportunity for your child to get extra help with one of our great NMS teachers. Ms. Wragg will be teaching the Monday class and Mrs. Bekic will be teaching the Tuesday class. For more information about Homework Club, click here. You can find the registration form here.


EMS is Calling All 5th Grade Parents!
 
Eastern Middle School is looking for parents of rising 6th graders to get involved in the PTA next year. There are many ways you can get involved at Eastern. We welcome all volunteers and love to see new faces!  For further information, please head to the PTA Tab on the EMS Website. Don't forget to fill out the Nominating Form if you are interested in helping (EMS Nominating Form and Descriptions).  Please do not hesitate to contact Holly Young, or Alice Mullins -your North Mianus School representatives on the EMS Nominating Committee, if you have any questions.
 
 
PTAC Essence Award 2018-Application deadline is April 30, 2018

This award is to recognize up to two outstanding PTA members of the Greenwich Public School system who through exemplary achievement, have inspired others, demonstrated selfless spirit, and made a significant difference in our school community (individual school or district wide).
Parents, teachers, staff, students, principals, administrators, or members of the Greenwich community may submit nominations. Please take the time to nominate one of our amazing volunteers so they can be recognized for their contributions! The application (essay under 500 words) can be found at greenwichschools.org under Community/PTAC or by clicking here. The awards ceremony will take place on May 29th at 10 am at the Board of Education Building.

School News


STEAM Night is Coming on March 28th! 

Please join us on March 28th for STEAM Night at NMS from 6 - 7:30 pm. STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics. There will be activities throughout the building including dance, music, math, art and engineering!  Please check the schedule of events by grade for more details.

Please note that this event is only for NMS students.  Siblings are not included.

Word Masters

The final Word Masters Lists are in. Get one from Ms. Ashcraft if you wish to continue. The test will be given on Wednesday, April 25th during reading for each grade. Study hard!!

Dismissal Manager

If your child is going home with a friend on a bus, please send in 2 notes as well as making the change in dismissal manager. One for the bus driver and one for the office to keep on file.

Please remember that all changes or additions to your child's dismissal need to be added to Dismissal Manager before the cut-off time, 2:00 pm.  At 2:00 pm, Dismissal Manager is not accessible, as it begins running reports that will be sent to North Mianus teachers by 2:30 pm.

Community News


The Little Mermaid Junior

Western Middle School is presenting the musical The Little Mermaid Junior on Friday, March 23, at 7 p.m. and Saturday, March 24, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Tickets are $10 for the evening shows and $8 for the matinee.  Tickets are available at the door.  Western Middle School is located at 1 Western Junior Highway in Greenwich.
